Changed man: A city resident caused problems at a drive-through window after the clerk dropped the 13-cents change due him, Friday. She said he was being difficult and refused to accept a refund she’d offered. He said the cashier dropped his 13 cents when she was handing it to him “and was rude to him when he asked her how he was supposed to get his change.” He claimed the manager “was also rude to him and he didn’t feel that it was appropriate how they treated him.” An officer picked up his 13 cents from in front of the window and handed him his $10 refund, then advised him the eatery doesn’t want him to come back. Police told him he could file a complaint with the corporate office.
Crowded out: A Railroad Avenue resident said someone was “in her backyard and trying to break into her residence,” Saturday. Police said the same woman had called “numerous times throughout (their) shift as well as numerous times on the previous shift” for essentially the same complaint and did not locate anyone near or behind her residence. When they went to her residence police said she told them her “ex-husband, his girlfriend and multiple others were hiding in the trees” by her home and every time police left, “they returned and they had a lookout who was sitting behind her house in the woods” Police checked the area but said nobody was outside or in the trees.
There’s the door: A city resident told police she and her significant other “had been arguing for the last several days” and that day were bickering over “who had to sleep on the couch and who would be allowed to sleep in the bed” when things turned physical, Friday. She said she tried to de-escalate the situation by walking into the bedroom but admits she called him a derogatory word, and moments later claims she “was struck in the head with (his) fist … before he allegedly pushed her on the bed and (put) her in a chokehold.” Police said she had “an obvious lump” on the side of her head as well as abrasions and some minor redness on her neck consistent with being choked. He told them they were arguing because “he believed that she had been texting her ex-boyfriend” and agreed she’d called him the derogatory term but denied striking her. Police reviewed footage from an indoor security camera and report they could hear the pair “yelling back and forth” and at one point the male allegedly referred to the woman with a different derogatory term and told her “he hates her” before she retaliated by referring to him by the original derogatory term, then moments later they said he asked “what did you call me?” then heard her “say several times, ‘back up’ and ‘get away from me’.” Police said they could not clearly hear or identify in the audio when (the woman) was allegedly struck, but after hearing her story, seeing her injuries and listening to the audio they determined the male was the primary aggressor.
Goosed: A Henry Avenue resident told police a friend and her kids had been staying with her for the past couple of weeks, but she wants them to go, Saturday. She said the two of them had gotten in an argument and claims her houseguest threatened her. The guest said she and her three small children were in their room when the homeowner “barged in (and) was screaming at (them).” She said during the ensuing argument the homeowner “picked up a Grey Goose bottle as if to hit her with it,” police said. She told police a friend was coming to pick her and her children up in the morning and the homeowner said she was going to go to work.
Sobering: A Market Street resident complained that she and her juvenile son had “exchanged some words” over her refusing to let him go see his girlfriend but nothing physical had taken place, Friday. She claimed the boy threatened her by saying, “You better hope you wake up tomorrow” before leaving the area in a vehicle. Police said the mother “was intoxicated” and said she didn’t want her child to come back, but they pointed out he lives there, and she cannot kick him out.
Naughty: A motorist said someone driving a black Buick Lasabre hit the front of his parked vehicle in the mall parking lot and left the area, Friday. He was able to give police the license plate number of the hit-and-run vehicle and when police tracked it down, the woman driving it told them she “did not think her vehicle caused any damage to the other vehicle.” Police showed her some minor damage to the right front of her vehicle that matched the damage done to the parked car.
