Stuck in the mud: An employee for a Shadyside company reported someone hotwired a crane truck that had been parked in the right-of-way going into Friendship Park and drove away, Nov 15. Deputies said the lift-crane had been driven down a steep graded field to what appeared to be an old creek bottom, where it got stuck. Deputies said a panel had been removed to expose the electrical system and “numerous wires had been spliced open and connected together.” Employees said the same truck had been entered the day before, but they hadn’t reported it. On that occasion the fire extinguisher had been removed and sprayed on the truck’s tires. That was also when the dashboard panel was originally removed.

Neither person involved contacted police and the caller had already left when police arrived, but employees said two men started arguing “over one of them alleging the other made threats to their child’s mother.” Employees said there “was no mention of a gun and only threats to beat each other up.”
Mopping up: The manager of a downtown apartment building said one of her employees was assaulted by a tenant, Monday. The victim told police he was mopping the floor by the elevators when the tenant “approached him and began attacking him,” admitting they eventually fought. He had a small cut above his ear and redness by his eye but told police he didn’t know the other man. The tenant had a “small scratch on his neck” and claimed he and the victim “have an ongoing problem” and insisted the fight was mutual, but after reviewing video of the incident police said the tenant approached the employee, “aggressive and yelling” and “lunged at (him) and tossed him to the ground.” Antell West, 37, 180 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, was booked for assault, police said
Oil and water: A couple was bickering in the 200 block of South Eighth Street, Monday. Police said the man admitted they were arguing because he “wanted her to leave and go back to Cambridge but he didn’t want to be alone with her in a vehicle.” She told officers she wanted to go back to Cambridge, so they arranged for the man’s brother to drive her back in his car.
Venting: A woman told police she thought a bag had been removed from her unlocked vehicle while it was parked in a business lot on University Boulevard, Monday. She insisted on seeing video from the lot even though officers told her employees didn’t have access to it at that time of day, then said she “went on about several other issues not related to the possible theft” before finally leaving the area.
Dog fight: A Henry Avenue resident said his neighbor’s dog jumped his fence and bit his puppy in the upper leg, Friday. Police said his dog was limping. The owner said he threw furniture at the neighbor’s dog to chase it away. The dog’s owner, Milah K. Miller, 3631 Sunset Blvd., said her dog was injured by the caller, and police noted “a cut and swelling around (its) eye.” Miller, 26, was cited for dog at large, police said.
Not talking: A man was laying on the side of the road on Lincoln Boulevard, Monday. Police tried to speak with him, but he refused.
Secure it: A Majestic Circle resident told police he noticed his gun was missing and thinks someone stole it from his car, Monday. He said he last saw it at the beginning of the month, but he “always keeps the car locked when he’s not in it and there were no signs anyone had entered (it).”
