Steubenville Police

Booked: A Lincoln Avenue resident is facing multiple charges after he allegedly jumped over a porch railing and fled police on foot, all while he was handcuffed, Tuesday. Police said Gordon L. Knight Jr., 32, 625 Lincoln, was booked into the county jail on charges of domestic violence, felony escape and resisting arrest. Knight’s girlfriend told police an argument between the two of them escalated to physical violence. She claimed he had struck her in the face earlier in the day and that just before she called police they’d fought again, that time leaving a red mark on her neck. Police said she also had a scratch on her forehead. Police said Knight told them the argument was heated but did not say it became physical. After jumping off the porch, police said he fled to the rear of the residence, resisting arrest until they threatened to tase him.

Throwing things: Callers reported a disturbance in the 600 block of Broadway Boulevard, Tuesday. Police said a woman who “was highly intoxicated and was not making much sense” was throwing things inside a residence. She agreed to go to the hospital.

Sleepy time: Callers reported seeing a man lying on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of Wellesley Avenue, Wednesday. Police said the man told them he “fell asleep” before they sent him on his way.

Disconcerting: A male with what appeared to be a gun in his hand questioned a woman about a parking problem on Maryland Avenue, Tuesday.

Booked: Tre’vaun Razar Palmer-Austin, 21, 730 N. Seventh St., Steubenville, warrant for felonious assault (Steubenville Municipal Court), Tuesday; Vincent L. Miller, 35, 697 Country Club Road, Cadiz, contempt of court, Tuesday.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Damaged: Someone vandalized a commercial truck belonging to a tree cutting service, Friday. An employee said a hydraulic hose had been disconnected and the fittings removed.

Throwing stones: A man complained that two strangers were throwing rocks at his van from the railroad tracks, Friday. The owner of the van and his companion are “currently homeless and living out of the van,” which is parked in an empty lot in the Toronto area. Deputies stopped two men driving away from the area, one of whom showed signs of impairment and refused to speak with them without an attorney. The other denied throwing the rocks. Deputies said they confiscated a 12-pack of Twisted Tea from the vehicle the two were riding in and, due to the driver’s condition, they parked the car and walked.

Unhappy ex: A Wintersville woman complained that she was being harassed by the ex-girlfriend of a man she’s involved with, Sunday. After reviewing the messages deputies said none rose to the level of a threat and nothing criminal had occurred.

Sore loser: A man upset that his ex is saying someone else broke three windows on the residence where she and her new boyfriend are staying, Friday. Her new boyfriend said the ex tried to push his way through the door twice and he hustled him back out both times, but the second time he grabbed a baseball bat that he used to break the windows.

Suspicious: A prowler was reported in the Vireo Drive area of Steubenville, Friday. A woman told deputies her dog started barking and when she looked out her window saw a man looking back at her. A neighbor also told deputies his mother had seen someone “jumping up and looking through her bedroom window” several months ago. Deputies also located a report from September filed by a man who said he saw someone in the woods behind his home and when he approached, the man ran back into the woods and couldn’t be found.

Stressed: A woman asked deputies to remove her husband from their home because he was hiding money from her, Saturday. A few minutes later she told them she knows he can’t be removed but she did want him to leave “because of the constant arguing.”
