Police reports

Steubenville Police

Second thoughts: A woman at a residence in the 200 block of South Eighth Street said her male companion dumped her possessions on the front porch and locked her out, Sunday. Police told the two of them that “all of the complaints they were referring to were civil issues” and waited while they continued to discuss the situation “before deciding to re-enter the residence.”

Backsliding: A city resident reported a disturbance at his residence, but while officers were enroute they spotted one of the individuals involved walking on Portland Boulevard, Sunday. The walker told police he’d just arrived home from medical treatment and asked to use his father’s car but they started arguing so he left the residence and started walking. His father said his son had called him begging for a ride because he’d left rehab. He said he gave in and picked his son up but once home he said his son “began begging for money to go to the gas station and then began asking to use his vehicle.” He said he offered to drive his son to the gas station but he wasn’t interested “and only wanted his …vehicle and money.” He said he believed his son “was lying to him and that he was going to use the vehicle to seek out narcotics.” He said when he called police his son left. They advised him how to obtain a civil protection order.

Mistaken identity: A resident in the vicinity of Jeannette at Oregon avenues reported hearing several shots fired, Sunday. While they were checking the area the complainant called back and advised he believed it was his neighbor using a nail gun.

Juvenile: A caller reported juveniles shooting other juveniles with an orby gun, Sunday. The caller reported seeing juveniles from Pittsburgh Street shooting the orby guns at juveniles from Pennsylvania Avenue. Police spoke to the mother of the Pittsburgh Street children and advised her to keep them away.

Booked: Joshua J. Fayak, 42, 214 Ravine St., Steubenville, failure to appear, Sunday.

Served, cited: A Wintersville man pulled over on a traffic stop ended up being served with a warrant in addition to being cited, Sunday. David P. Cope, 60, 564 Cadiz Road, Lot 19, Wintersville, was served with a warrant for petit theft and cited for driving under suspension, police said.

Causing problems: A caller reported a man standing on an outdoor patio in the 2100 block of Sunset Boulevard for several hours who “would sporadically walk in front of passing traffic.” He was advised to leave the property. Hours later callers reported a male “yelling at employees in the (mall) parking lot” and police found the same man standing in the parking lot. He denied yelling at anyone and left.

Masked mischief: Employees at the midtown Speedway said three males came into the store wearing costumes “and went down the aisles and stuffed merchandise” into them before fleeing the store in an older red sedan, Sunday.

Bothered: A city resident told police she’s being harassed by a man she met online, Monday. She said she only knows his first name, but he’s calling and texting her.

Summons: Kory Flowers, 33, 3 Hanover St., Salineville, misdemeanor theft, Sunday.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Fleeced: Family members reported a Bloomingdale couple was swindled out of $18,000 by a scammer who convinced them their son had been in a bad accident, Saturday. The family member said the scammer actually had come to the residence in a grey Kia to collect the money.
