Steubenville Police

Attention getter: A man was causing a disturbance at a property in the 700 block of North Sixth Street where he wasn’t permitted, Monday. The man told him he used the bathroom, and police told him he’s not permitted on the property and should not return. Later they found him on the sidewalk under the North Sixth Street train bridge and told him he couldn’t sleep in a public area.

Grounded: A woman was found on the ground in the 300 block of North Webster Alley, Tuesday. She told police she was okay.

Not wanted: A man who’d been banned from the homeless shelter was refusing to leave, Sunday. Police said he insisted he wasn’t on the banned list but “if he was, it was over two bottles of water.” He was told to leave the property and not return.

Thoughtless: Police had to locate a driver who triple parked in the mall parking lot, Monday. The driver had blocked a vehicle in.

Holed up: A motorist said he hit a “large pothole” in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue that damaged his passenger side tires, Monday. Police said his front tire was flat and both rims were bent.

Bumped: A motorcyclist struck a parked car in the 100 block of Linduff Avenue, Monday. He said he was trying to turn the bike around and it “got away from him” and struck the driver’s door, denting it.

Wayward dog: A dog owner was warned to keep her pet on a leash after it allegedly chased a kid riding a scooter in the 600 block of Oakmont, Monday. A neighbor said kids were riding past their houses when the woman’s dog ran off the porch and scared the kids, causing one of them to fall into a parked pickup and knock a piece of trim off. The child had no obvious injuries, police said, and told them the dog didn’t bite him.

Overstayed: A South Sixth Street resident said her child’s father was visiting and refused to leave, Monday. As she escorted police in through the front door, he existed through the rear door.

Bad behavior: A man at a Pennsylvania Avenue residence said his child’s mother grabbed hold of him and was arguing, Monday. Police said it was obvious someone had grabbed hold of (his shirt) and pulled on it aggressively” and said she threatened to kill him if he touched her. He said she struck him several times but he was not injured, though he did tell police if she kept hitting him he would eventually have hit her back. She went to a family member’s home, and when police talked to her she admitted she’d been drinking and did not remember threatening to kill him but said she was sorry if she had drunkenly made such a statement. He didn’t want to pursue charges through he did want the incident documented “as he did not want to be subsequently arrested for any false accusations (she) may make in the future,” police said.

Spreading joy: A woman was causing problems at a home in the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue, Sunday. When police arrived the homeowner told them she’d left.

Frightened: A city resident said a man known to her picked her child up by the ankles and carried him into another room because he got on his nerves, Sunday. She told police she’s afraid of him due to his history of violence.

Ooops : A driver was cited after she ran into a U-Haul truck parked in the 500 block of North Fourth Street, Monday. Police said Tricia Perine, 457 Woodland Ave., told them she’d “worked a double and was on her way home and dozed off.”
