Steubenville Police

Some friends: Police trying to check on the welfare of a woman who was reportedly overdosing said the homeowner refused to unlock the door until they made it clear they were going to kick it open, Monday. A caller had told police she’d been told the woman was overdosing so she’d brought Narcan to the residence but was denied entry. A female who was in the house told police a woman was inside the residence “sleeping” but she wasn’t sure if she’d overdosed, then the male homeowner closed the door and locked it. When they ordered him to open it, he refused so an officer started to kick the door, when it opened. Police located the unresponsive woman and Steubenville firefighters administered Narcan, which “had a positive change.” When she was taken to the hospital, she was still unable to speak, police said.

Trying to change: A caller reported a possible overdose in the 300 block of Belleview Boulevard, Friday. The two men they found at the scene advised they had not used drugs but were going through withdrawal “as (they’d) decided to discontinue using narcotics” the day before. They were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Big oops: A resident in the 2600 block of Chestnut Street told police a man tried to walk in her front door, Saturday. While an officer was talking to the resident, he said a man driving am SUV pulled into the street and said he was the individual who’d tried to get in the home. He said he’s from out-of-state but has family that lives on Devonshire Road and “had the streets confused.”

Street walker: A man was walking in the roadway in the 2600 block of Sunset Boulevard, Monday. He told police he was walking to work, so they gave him a ride.

Attempted entry: An Oakmont Avenue resident said someone tried to break into her car, Sunday. She said the plastic cover by the keyhole on the driver’s side door was broken and lying next to her car. She said a “similar incident recently occurred to the same vehicle.”

Disturbing the peace: Callers in the 900 block of Sherman Avenue complained of a loud radio, Saturday. Police made contact with the occupants of the residence and advised them of the complaint, so they turned the radio off.

Booked: Carolyn Pizzoferrato, 49, 1267 Sinclair Ave., Steubenville, bench warrant out of Jefferson County Juvenile Court, Monday; Harry E. Irvin, 60, 732 N. Sixth St., Steubenville, warrant for theft; Tiffany Six, 34, 730 N. Seventh St., Apt. 410, Steubenville, failure to appear probation violation, Sunday.

Jefferson County Sheriff

Buyer beware: A Richmond man told deputies he purchased three bottles of what was supposed to be high-end, unopened cologne advertised on Facebook marketplace, but when the box arrived it was empty, Sunday. He said when he contacted the seller, he “pretended like he had no idea what I was talking about” then blocked (him) on Facebook.” He said he sent the $225 for the purchase after he got a tracking number showing his items had shipped and wants to pursue charges, pointing out that he has since said he looked at the seller reviews and realized “it appears he has done this to several others in the past, judging by the reviews.”

Nervous: A woman in Yorkville called 911 and the sheriff’s department five times in a five-minute span reporting a male was making her feel unsafe, Saturday. She said she’d finally got him to leave, but he was back at her door asking for his keys and she was refusing to open it “because she does not feel comfortable opening the door now.” She told deputies she has PTSD and “is feeling like she is in that state,” but the male told them he’d been with her and she “just flipped out” and he didn’t know what to do. He said he’d asked for his keys, but she wouldn’t give them to him. Deputies got his keys for him, and he was advised not to return.

Fraud: A Mingo Junction man told deputies he noticed a $16.03 monthly charge on his credit card statement for a service he isn’t subscribed to, Feb. 16. He said the fee, billed as “Amazon Audible,” was on his card from March 2023 through December, and when he contacted Amazon they have no record of him being a subscriber during that 10-month period.

Neighbors worried: A suspicious male dressed all in black and wearing a face mask was seen walking in Yorkville, Sunday. Callers said he was seen walking between houses.

Lost: A firearm was reported missing from a property in the 200 block of East Street, Mount Pleasant, Feb. 15.
