Cracked: A city resident was cited after he allegedly lost control of his car and struck a building in Franciscan Square, Friday. Police said they found a vehicle operated by Sean D. Loveless, 38, 2504 Crabbe Blvd., Apt. B, stuck on the side of the George D. Rice Music Center, and said it appeared to have left the roadway and traveled between 40 and 50 yards before the impact. Several bricks were knocked loose and there was a 10-15-foot “visible crack” in the wall, police said. The vehicle also was heavily damaged. Loveless blamed road conditions and insisted he was only going 35 mph but police the accident was captured on Franciscan University of Steubenville’s surveillance cameras and said the vehicle “was observed to be traveling at a high rate of speed before leaving the roadway and striking the building.”

Dispute: A resident in the 700 block of Oxford Boulevard told police a family member “was breaking things inside (the) home,” Friday. Police said the two had been arguing over $24 and the younger of the two men walked into the others’ bedroom and grabbed a bottle of alcohol he’d been drinking and the two of them started shoving and pushing at each other. The older man shook the bottle, causing it to “spill all over them and the floor” so the younger man started grabbing their clothes out of the drawers and throwing them on the floor. The older man declined to pursue domestic violence charges but did say he wanted the younger one to leave for the night.

Road rage: A city resident said after he honked at another motorist who “almost (caused) an accident” the man “followed him and yelled at him and…began arguing with him,” Sunday. He said the male then “walked back a few minutes later and said he would regret it and that he is a neighbor of his.” He said the two of them argued some more before the male left the area, but not before telling him his name.

Hearing things: An Oakmont Avenue resident claimed he “heard a gunshot coming from the residence next door” and that the neighbor had shot at a cat, Sunday. He also claimed to have captured the incident on his security camera, but after reviewing it police said “nothing was captured and the audio only consists of background noise.” Police said they checked the area around the neighbor’s house and found nothing to suggest shots had been fired.

Causing problems: A caller reported a male throwing things at a residence in the 400 block of South Sixth Street, Saturday. They said as they arrived a man was walking away and a woman walked up and told them he’d “spit” on her. They stopped the male, who told them he was only “playing in the snow” and the woman had come out of her house with a knife. James Pruitt, 33, 1333 Ridge Ave., Steubenville, was charged with criminal trespass after the woman told police he had not been invited to her home.

Get her out: A man told police he had given three people a ride and when he decided to drop a male passenger off first a female “became irate and (started) yelling at him,” Sunday. He said there was no physical confrontation and just wanted the female removed from his vehicle, but police said the woman and a companion had already left.

Pushy: A South Fifth Street resident said a man who knocked on his back door tried to push his way into the residence after he told him he wasn’t allowed in, Sunday. He said he did try to punch the knocker to keep him from getting in his home before the man fled on foot.
