Toronto’s season ends on walk-off

MINERVA — The Toronto softball team’s season came to an end Tuesday evening with a 4-3 loss to Strasburg in a Division IV, East District semifinal at Minerva.

The No. 2 seed Red Knights, took a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh. Autumn Daniels led off the inning with a single, then scored on Madison Sapp’s RBI double. Sapp then scored on an RBI groundout by Sam Swearingen.

Strasburg, the No. 1 seed, answered in the bottom half, though, advancing on a walkoff.

“It was a pretty good season,” Toronto coach Steve Trifonoff said. “We definitely had our chances to win this game and let it slip away.”

Toronto’s other run came in the fourth when Riley Kinsey led the inning off with a triple and scored when Gina Fogle recorded a base hit to left field to make it a 1-1 game at the time. Strasburg took a 2-1 lead in the bottom half, and carried it until the seventh.
