Tri-State softball signups

WINTERSVILLE — Tri-State Girls Softball League signups will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Crossroads Church.

Cost for the first child is $50, while it costs $45 for the second. The league is for children ages 4-18.

3D archery shoot coming Sunday

Crew owner, MLS review suit move

COLUMBUS — Major League Soccer and the owner of the Columbus Crew say they’re reviewing a lawsuit that Ohio’s attorney general and the city of Columbus filed to stop the proposed team move to Austin, Texas.

The lawsuit, announced Monday, cites a law that prohibits sports teams that have received public money from moving unless certain conditions are met. It was enacted after the original Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore in 1996.

Gordon nominee for NASCAR Hall

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jeff Gordon is among the new nominees up for induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame next year.

The four-time NASCAR champion was added to the list of 20 nominees in the first year Gordon was eligible. He retired from full-time competition after the 2015 season with 93 career Cup victories. He is currently an analyst for Fox Sports.
