REGION 13 QUARTERFINAL: BIG RED 49, SALEM 14

STEUBENVILLE — Big Red scored early and often in rolling to a 49-14 victory over Salem on Nov. 3 at Harding Stadium.

Steubenville, which improved to 11-0, scored 14 points in the opening quarter before adding 28 in the second.

Senior workhorse Jacob Bernard again paced Big Red’s ground attack, running for 131 yards (all coming in the first half) and three touchdowns. Javon Davis added 85 yards and two scores, while Caleb Mitchell ran for 51 and a 6-pointer.

As a team, Big Red rushed for 317 yards and six touchdowns. Its only second half score came on a 16-yard Clayton Criss to Dylan Cunningham pass.

Defensively, Big Red held the Quakers to 122 yards (3 rushing and 119 passing). Before Reno Saccoccia began substituting freely in the third quarter, Salem had just 24 yards of offense.
