NEW CUMBERLAND — Oak Glen kicker Collin Williams gave his team a 17-14 victory over Warren Local Saturday night with a game-winning 34-yard field goal.

“It feels great,” Williams said. “I did it my freshman year, and it’s a weight off your shoulders knowing you didn’t let anybody down.”

A 51-yard pass caught by Jeremy Taylor with 1:25 in the 4th helped the Golden Bears get into position to take the game-winning kick.

“It gave our team the spark it needed to get down the field,” Taylor said. “It was a team effort for everybody involved.”

Oak Glen head coach Ted Arnault was thrilled with the win coming off the bye week.

“It feels great,” Arnault said. “The kids have bought into the family concept that we have installed since lifting began back in January.”

Oak Glen started out the game strong with an opening return that started the initial drive at Warren’s 11.

Oak Glen quarterback Nick Chaney got the scoring going with touchdown pass to Gage Patterson with 10:44 left in the first quarter. Chaney made passes when the team needed it, finishing with 146 yards on the night.

Late in the second quarter, Chaney connected with Ethan Travis for a 47-yard touchdown reception with 36 seconds remaining.

The Golden Bears outgained the Warriors 84-32 through the air in the first half. In the second half, the Warriors (0-5) started their comeback with a 15-yard touchdown from Ronnie Hill to Tyler Schafer. The Warriors went to the run game in the second half led by Ronnie Hill with 118 yards on 15 carries.

Landon Wigal ran in a 5-yard touchdown with 2:48 left in the fourth quarter to tie the contest at 14-14 late. Wigal finished the game with 27 yards on four carries.

On a drive that started at Oak Glen’s 21-yard line that started with 2:42 left, Chaney changed the momentum with a huge pass to Jeremy Taylor.

“Were going to win more football games, no doubt in my mind.” Arnault said.

Oak Glen will host Edison during homecoming next Friday in conference action.
