Sandy Valley rallies past Wildcats

CADIZ — The Sandy Valley Cardinals Varsity defeated Edison, 4-1, on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. With the win, Sandy Valley earned the Division III Eastern District Championship.

The game was tied at zero with Sandy Valley batting in the bottom of the fifth when Makayla Loveless doubled off of Emily Smith, driving in two runs.

Loveless earned the win for Sandy Valley. She tossed seven innings, allowing one run, eight hits, and striking out eight. Smith took the loss for Edison. She pitched six innings, allowing four runs, 10 hits, striking out four, and walking zero.

Sandy Valley had ten hits in the game. Meggie Otte, Loveless, and Kayla Campbell each collected multiple hits for Sandy Valley. Arianna Ott and Loveless each drove in two runs to lead Sandy Valley.

Edison collected eight hits. McKenzie Morrison, Sami Springer, and Charli McConnell each collected multiple hits for Edison. Morrison led Edison with three hits in three at bats.
