CAMERON — The Weirton Madonna baseball teams lives to play today after its 12-3 victory at Cameron in a West Virginia Class A Region 1, Section 1 elimination game.

The Blue Dons scored five times in the first two innings and seven times in the final two innings in raising its record to 9-17.

Simon Nero drove in four runs and Mac Raymond three for Madonna. Raymond did his via a home run and double. Nero collecyed two singles and a double.

Gavin Dietrich and Tyler Wright also had a multiple-hit game.

Chayce Lemley earned the win in relief of starter Dom Mazur. Lemley went 5• innings after entering in the second inning. He struck out seven and walked three. Nick Paul finished things up.

Madonna takes on nemesis Wheeling Central at 1 p.m. at the J.B. Chambers I-470 Complex in an elimination game. The winner then must defeat Bishop Donahue twice to win the tournament.

Edison blanks Lisbon

LISBON — The Edison softball team defeated host Lisbon, 2-0, Friday in a tune-up for Tuesday’s district contest.

Tommi McConnell singled three times and drive in both runs for the 17-9 Wildcats. Emily Smith earned the win. Sami Springer and Emily Andreozzi each singled twice.

Edison takes on Coshocton at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Cambridge in a Division III district semifinal.
