Brooke girls fall to Monarchs

MOUNDSVILLE — Avery Derrow and Taylor Straughn combined for 47 points as the John Marshall girls’ basketball team edged visiting Brooke, 65-61, Tuesday evening inside the John Marshall Fieldhouse.

The Monarchs outscored the Bruins 29-11 from the free throw line.

Sophomore Hope Bowman paced Brooke with 24 points, while freshman Ashley Arca chipped in with 14. Kloee Fox added eight.

The Bruins (5-9) welcome Edison on Thursday.
