Bears take third

MOUNDSVILLE — The Oak Glen wrestling team finished 3-2 Saturday in the John Marshall Duals at the John Marshall Fieldhouse.

“We had a lot of ground to make up in each match since we were forfeiting three weight classes. Our guys came out and battled each time they stepped on the mat and that’s what you want to see from your wrestlers — a never give up attitude,” Golden Bears head coach Patrick McGillian said.

Oak Glen had to 5-0 wrestlers — senior Robert Bozek (138) and freshman Jonathan Creese (145).

The Bears will be back in action Saturday in a quad match with Fairmont Senior and Roane County at Morgantown High School.

Knights top Bulldogs

BRIDGEPORT — Visiting Toronto (2-0) ran out to a 14-2 lead after one quarter and never looked back in racing past the Bulldogs (0-2) inside John J. Havlicek Gymnasium Friday evening.

Sante Carducci led a quartet of double-digit scorers for the Red Knights with 18 points. Ty West and Lucas Gulezynski each had 13. Jake Keenan finished with 11.

“I was very pleased from our shot selection,” Toronto head coach Sean Tucker said. “We shot 75 percent from the field and with high percentage shot selection.

“Our guys really stepped up and played solid defense as that is our Achilles heel to this program. I am very proud of the development so far.”
