Redskins top E. Liverpool

MINGO JUNCTION — The Indian Creek boys soccer team is 2-0 after a 6-2 victory over visiting East Liverpool Thursday at the John Muth Recreational Complex.

Nathan Jones collected two goals and an assist and George Shea a pair of goals for the Redskins. Zack Neeley and Bryce Throckmorton also scored. Freshmen Gunnar Brettell dished out two assists and Porter Mairano one. Andrew Price totaled 12 saves.

Josh Recktenwald scored both goals for the Potters. Alex Peeley finished with 15 saves.

Indian Creek hosts Oak Glen at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Bears fall to Eagles

NEW MARTINSVILLE — Magnolia earned a 3-1 victory over visiting Oak Glen Thursday. Shane Theiss scored for the Golden Bears, while Nate Fryer made 11 saves.

Jack Booth had two goals, Jake Fruner a goal and two assists and Cameron Archer an assist for the Blue Eagles. Jerry Shultz made 11 saves.

Oak Glen visits Indian Creek Saturday.

Colts win quad match

CAMBRIDGE — Meadowbrook’s Trey Singleton was the medalist with a 37 at Salt Fork Lake Golf Course Thursday as the Colts shot 165 to defeat River View (179), Harrison Central (204) and Steubenville Catholic Central (223).

Devin Webster shot 41, Tanner Hewison 43 and Tucker Rogers 44 for Meadowbrook.

Cole Bennett and Lucas Huston each shot 44 for River View, while Jaxon Rinkes shot 45 and Jake Moore 46.

Clint Heavilin and Cameron McIntosh each had a 49 for Harrison Central, whole Cruz Capers shot 52 and Hunter Sloan 54.

Kevin Wells led the Crusaders with a 49. Luke Rest shot 55, Nicco Toriscelli 57 and Luca Conner 62.

Toronto beats Weir

TORONTO — Sante Carducci was the medalist Wednesday with a 38 at Dyer Country Club as Toronto defeated Weir High, 191-217.

Connor Suffoletta shot 44 for the Red Knights, while Noah Smith had 50 and Coulter Kelly a 61.

Noah Wodnicki led the Red Riders with a 47. Dom Simich shot 55, Jesse Tustin 56 and Jasmine Tustin 59.

Potters down Bears

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool topped Oak Glen, 190-221, Wednesday at East Liverpool Country Club

Alex Tambellini set the tone for East Liverpool with a 41. Also for the Potters, Owen O’Hara shot a 44, Kyle Schneidmiller 51, Cole Orin 54 and John Bowen 61.

The Golden Bears were led by Josh Cline and Jayson Chappell who each sot 49. Conner Blake turned in a 60, while Tyler Ridgeway shot 63.

GIRLS SOCCER

Huskies top Bobcats

CAMBRIDGE — Harrison Central improved to 1-2 on the season with a 4-1 win at Cambridge Thursday.

Sydney Starr scored two goals, while Hannah Warington and Lexi Yoho each scored for the Huskies. Julie Rose had two assists and Sabrina Mitchell added one for Harrison Central’s scoring. Lilly Ritz scored for Cambridge.

Ashley Mencer had six saves for the Huskies. Karlee Bruns totaled 19 for the Bobcats.

Harrison Central hosts Oak Glen at 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

VOLLEYBALL

Jets defeat Huskies

MORRISTOWN — Harrison Central dropped a 25-14, 25-14, 18-25, 25-17 decision at Union Local Thursday.

Shelbie Mitchell totaled 13 assists and nine digs for the Huskies. Katie Heavilin added 21 digs, Sarah Fink eight kills and 14 digs, Lyndsey Hennis eight digs and four kills and Caitlin Emhoff seven digs.
