Park to hold bow hunting

Hole in one reported
WELLSBURG – Bryce Mott of Follansbee made a hole in one on the seventh hole during Brooke Hills Park’s Night Tournament.
It was witnessed by Bruce Hunter, Derek Paul and Dave Hartman.
Jack instructs water renewal courses
WELLSBURG – Ernest Jack, a Wellsburg resident and water specialist for the Moundsville Water Board, instructed two six-hour courses held Aug. 26-27 in Chester by the West Virginia Rural Water Association and West Virginia Bureau for Public Health and required for the renewal of operators’ licenses.
Thirty-two operators from several cities and public service districts and several businesses attended the courses, which covered preparing an operation and maintenance manual for drinking water and waste water treatment plans and reducing disinfection byproducts.
Municipal Mutual sets open house
WELLSBURG – Municipal Mutual Insurance Co. will hold an open house at its newly constructed office at 10th and Main streets in Wellsburg, across from the Brooke County Public Library, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The event also will include a ribbon cutting by the Wellsburg Chamber of Commerce.
Main Street celebrates with cookout
WELLSBURG – Main Street Bank in Wellsburg will celebrate its ninth anniversary with a cookout beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The bank will be serving food and beverages to the public.
Edison football to presale tickets
RICHMOND – Presale tickets for Edison football games will be available for the remainder of the games each week in the athletic office from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Home game presale tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students. Presale tickets for the remaining away games will vary, depending on game site.
A representative will travel to John Gregg and Stanton Elementary on home game Fridays. Any questions, contact the high school at (740) 765-4313 ext. 101.
Homecoming parade planned
RICHMOND – The edison Homecoming parade will be held Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in Richmond. The line up will begin at 6 p.m. at the former Richmond Elementary School.

The Wildcats will host the Bellaire Big Reds for the homecoming game on Sept. 19.
Creek selling tickets
WINTERSVILLE – The Indian Creek Athletic Department will sell pre-sale tickets to all football games at the gymnasium ticket window from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
Home game reserved tickets are $6, general admission $5 and students $4. All tickets at gate for home games are $6. Away game tickets will vary in price.
Bears selling tickets
NEW MANCHESTER – Tickets for the Oak Glen vs. Indian Creek football game at 7 p.m. Friday at the Oak Glen Multi Sports Complex are available at the high school main office, Citizen’s Drug Store in Chester and New Cumberland RX Center daily during regular business hours through Friday at noon.
Cost is $5 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets at the gate are $6. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

UNIONPORT – Bob Woodward recorded a hole-in-one at Red Oaks Golf Course. He used a 7-iron on the par 3 15th hole. The shot was witnessed by Jack Byers and Hugh Shultz
Gurrera records an ace
WEIRTON – Vince Gurrera recorded a hole-in-one at Williams Country Club. He used a pitching wedge on the 133-yard par 3 eighth hole.
The shot was witnessed by Terri Mattock, Leslie Kernen and John Capp.
No tickets at Edison
RICHMOND – The Edison football team will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Carrollton. There are no presale tickets available.
All tickets at the gate are $6 for adults and $4 for students.
Kirsch wins club championship
RICHMOND – Nick Kirsch won the men’s club championship at Blackmoor Golf Course, shooting 67-74. James Speece took the low handicap division at 139. Dicky Antill won the 50/50 drawing.
The men’s club will holds its annual Oldster and Youngster’s Event on Sept. 13. It will be the final golf event of the year.
Campbell records an ace
RICHMOND – Jeff Campbell recorded a hole-in-one at Blackmoor Golf Course. He used a 6-iron on the 165-yard par 3 15th hole.
The witnesses were Bob Newbrough, Larry Bails and Mark Mohorski.
WBA changes meeting
WINTERSVILLE – The Wintersville Baseball Association rescheduled its meeting for 7 p.m. Sunday at the Bantam Ridge Elementary gymnasium. Any parent with a child who played in the WBA in the spring is welcome to attend.
