CADIZ – Harrison Central’s Giovanni Rocchi faced two batters over the minimum to throw a no-hitter in a 4-0 victory Monday over St. Clairsville at Sally Buffalo Park.

He struc kout six and walked two.

Rocchi threw an efficient 88 pitches, 57 for strikes.

He helped himself at the plate with a pair of singles and an RBI.

Nick Staten delivered a two-RBI double and Dalton Rutter added two singles and an RBI. Tyler Redish also singled.

Wildcats down Potters

EAST LIVERPOOL – Edison’s Tanner Evans allowed four singles in six innings and the Wildcats scored five in the second inning and cruised to an 8-1 victory over host East Liverpool Monday.

The same teams play today at Jefferson Lake State Park.

Evans fanned four and did not issue a free pass. Matt Johnson pitched the final inning. Clay Woodward batted in four runs for the winners. Josh Pasek collected three singles and an RBI.

CALCUTTA – The Brooke baseball team won its 14th game in 21 starts with an 11-0 victory over host Beaver Local on Monday.

Russell Schwertfeger collected a single, double and home run for an RBI to lead the 12-hit attack. Heath Hildreth added three singles and three RBIs.

Luc Pannett and Aaron Walker each had a double and two RBIs. Nick Ossman delivered a single, double and RBI, Kalean Welch a double and RBI and Chad Harper a single and RBI.

Harper earned the win. He fanned two and walked two in five innings. Hunter Grishkevich pitched the final inning.

Brooke visits Weir at 5 p.m. today.

WHEELING – The Oak Glen baseball team scored seven times in the first two innings and left Wheeling Park with a 10-5 victory on Monday.

Zac Porter went the distance for the win. He struckout seven and walked two.

Bub Haddox led the offense with a single, triple, home run and four RBIs. Kyle Woodruff added two singles and three RBIs, Tyler Click two singles and an RBI and Alex Shuman two singles.

The Golden Bears are 10-9 and visit John Marshall today.
