Brooke athletes qualify for state track meet
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – Fourteen members of the Brooke track and field team have automatically qualified for the West Virginia Class AAA Track and Field Championships next weekend at the University of Charleston’s Laidley Field.
Top three individuals and relay teams from each region will automatically qualify.
The last four qualifying positions will be determined by the next four fastest times/distances from all regions.
Automatic qualifiers for the Bruins Friday at Parkersburg South High School were: Jena Riccelli (long jump, 15-11), Gavin Lewis (100, 11.66) and Cody Rine (shot put, 43-5).
Along with the following relays: 4×100 (Mekenzie DeFranco, Natalie Fowler, Cheyenne Hudson, Riccelli, 51.94), 4×200 (Faith Johnson, Alexis Turner-Davis, Riccelli, Hudson, 1:51.29), shuttles (Krista Brady, Calandra Olenick, Kristin Brady, DeFranco, 1:09.49) and 4×100 (Nigel Bowland, Derek Jenkins, Jeremy Bosick, Lewis, 45.47).
The remainder of the state championship top 16 in each event will not be determined until all the regional championships have reported.
