Panthers stop Red Riders

RAYLAND – The Weir High baseball team scored six times in the top of the second inning for a 6-4 lead Tuesday.

But, host Buckeye Local came back with three in the third and four in the fourth and eventually scored four more times in the bottom of the sixth inning for an 18-8 victory.

The Panthers totaled 18 hits and did not commit an error.

Jonathan Borkoski collected five RBIs on four doubles and a home run, while teammate Dominic Rose had a single and double and also drove in five runs.

Eric Banal added two doubles, a triple and two RBIs and Eric Williams two doubles and a single.

Will Larch finished with three doubles for the Red Riders (0-3). Michael Curtis added three singles.

Blue Dons cruise

WEIRTON – Nick Mazur fanned 11 and walked three as Madonna cruised to an 8-3 win over Beaver Local Tuesday at Bowman Field.

Vinnie Merico paced the Blue Dons (5-0) with a double, two singles and three RBIs. Luca Fuscardo added three doubles and two RBIs, Kaleb Baire two singles and Will Bowser a single and RBI.

Harrison Central comes back for win

NEW MANCHESTER – Oak Glen held a 6-2 lead after four innings, but couldn’t hold the lead.

Harrison Central scored five times in the fifth and added one in the sixth for an 8-7 win over the host Golden Bears at the Field of Dreams Complex Tuesday.

Ian Saho had two singles and an RBI and Tyler Redish a single and RBI for the Huskies. Saho earned the victory after he took over on the mound for Redish. The Huskies were walked 10 times.

Alec Swiger had a single and two RBIs for Oak Glen (1-3). Alex Shuman added two singles and an RBI and Justin Bailey a double and RBI.
