Ellzy’s arm, bat leads Harrison Central
CADIZ – Junior Katie Ellzy threw a one-hitter, struck out 11 and collected a trio of hits, including a three-run home run as the Harrison Central softball team cruised to a 9-1 win over visiting Wheeling Park Tuesday at Sally Buffalo Park.
The Huskies pounded out 13 hits and Ellzy finished with four RBIs.
Kara Dunfee had three hits and an RBI. Paige Dunlap knocked in a run on two hits. Ashley Heavilin doubled and singled. Shianne Nameth had two hits and Roni Caldwell singled in a run.

Maroon Knights stop Bears
NEW MANCHESTER – Wheeling Central pitcher Madison Basinger struck out 12, walked one and allowed five hits in a 7-1 victory over Oak Glen Tuesday at the Field of Dreams Complex.
“Our girls battled, but Wheeling Central played a cleaner game and hit the ball,” said Golden Bears coach Morgan Martin. “It’s a disappointing loss, but we’ll learn from it and come back harder in the next game.”
Wheeling Central took a 1-0 lead into the top of the sixth inning and it capitalize on two errors, a walk, and a bases clearing double from Hannah Mozingo, bringing in three runs.
The Maroon Knights strung together four singles in the top of the seventh and took advantage of an error to put up three more runs, making it a 7-0 game.
Mikayla Crane tripled in the bottom of the seventh and later scored to avert the shutout.

JM nips Brooke
GLEN DALE – John Marshall scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to escape with a 3-2 victory over visiting Brooke on Tuesday.
It is the first loss of the season for the Bruins in five starts.
Maddi Namath finished with a single and two RBIs for the winners. Jessica Kinnick added a single and double.
Kaylee Kuchinski was the hard-luck loser for the Bruins. She fanned three and walked none.
The Bruins scored two in the third thanks to a single to center by Brette Geary that plated Sabrina Duffy and Kelly Schambach. Sabrina Duffy added two singles and Taylor Simala a triple.

Beaver Local tops Weir
WEST POINT – Despite shaky defense early on against Weir, Beaver Local the Beavers picked up the pace and an RBI triple from Maranda Kiddey in the sixth inning led the Beavers over the Red Riders, 9-7, Tuesday at West Point Elementary.
The Red Riders (1-3) got the bats swinging early in the first inning with a triple from Breanna Rosnick and a walk from Kelly LeMasters, followed by an in-the-park three-run home run from Ashlynn Drizake put the Red Riders ahead 3-0.
Mariah Stevens and Marlee Harris also contributed with RBIs for the Red Riders.
