Edison softball outlasts Big Red in 11
RICHMOND – Cassady Jarvis laced a hit to right field, scoring Kayli Stewart in the bottom of the 11th inning on Wednesday. It was the winning run in a 6-5 Edison win over Steubenville.
Jarvis added another hit on the night, as the Wildcats (2-4) collected 14. Skylar Fankhouser had two singles with two RBIs and Lynsey Morrison collected three singles with an RBI.
Charli McConnell, Ashlee Miller and Caitlun Brenstuhl each had two singles for Edison.
Brenstuhl started the game and pitched two innings with four strikeouts.
Zoe Westfall took over over in the third inning and finished the game with three strikeouts.
Big Red’s runs came in the first and second inning.
Averee Fields led the Steubenville (12-3) offense with three doubles and an RBI, while Mytia Barker had two singles and an RBI. Nauja Banks had a single and two doubles and Casey Gentile collected three singles.
Kesha Barz took the loss for Big Red, taking over from Carlee Jenkins in the sixth inning. Barz had one strikeout and Jenkins had two.
Edison has a doubleheader today. Game 1 is at home against John Marshall at 1:30 p.m. Then, the Wildcats play at Indian Creek at 5:30.

Central rallies past Magnolia
NEW MARTINSVILLE – Sophomore pitcher Alex McComb struck out eight and allowed just two hits to lead the Central softball team past Magnolia, 5-2.
Maddy Metcalf collected a single, double and two RBIs, while Micca Mirabella had two singles with an RBI.
Fran Capaldi doubled and drove in a run as Gabby Capaldi and Shayna Mirabella each singled.
Metcalf drove in the winning runs with two outs in the top of the seventh.
The Crusaders (5-3) host Harrison Central today.

Weir falls to Beavers
WEIRTON – Beaver Local scored in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings on Wednesday to rally past Weir High. The Beaver won, 6-3.
Abby Pratt was solid for the Red Riders, though, striking out a pair and not allowing a walk. She only allowed six hits, but the Weir defense committed eight errors.
Pratt led the offense with three singles and two RBIs, while Brianna Rosnick drove in a run on a double.
Samantha Tate and Marlee Harris each had singles.
The Red Riders are now 3-6 and play at Starvaggi Park against Madonna for the City Championship today.

Bridgeport tops Madonna
BRIDGEPORT – Bridgeport scored early and held on for a 6-2 win over Madonna on Wednesday.
Courtney Kaczmarek took the loss with one strikeout and two walks. Amanda Pulice took over in the third and struck out two, while walking one.
Taylor Thompson and Ciserro each drove in a run, while Amanda Paul doubled.

TORONTO – Toronto scored in all but one inning for an 8-4 win over Conotton Valley on Wednesday.
Serena Burkey had seven strikeouts for the win. At the plate, she hit two singles and a double.
Lexie Berger and Chelsea Anderson each had a single and double, while Delaney Merideth tripled.
Hannah Parker, Kaylie Zdinak and Allyson Kuntz all singled.
The Red Knights play Brooke at home on Friday.
