Brooke softball tops University on road

MORGANTOWN – The Brooke softball team collected 12 hits in its 4-2 win over University on Wednesday.

Cassi Camiletti led the Bruins’ offense with two doubles and an RBI. Isabella Preston had a single with two RBIs, including the game-winning hit in the top of the seventh inning, while Kristen Reardon drove in a run on a single.

Abby Carpenter added a double for Brooke (9-9).

Kaylee Kuchinski earned the win with two strikeouts and no walks, issuing just seven hits.

The Bruins play at Beaver Local today.

Madonna romps Rockets

BOWERSTON – The Madonna softball team scored in every frame, with seven runs in the sixth inning of a 17-2 win over Conotton Valley on Wednesday.

Aubrey Platek hit a single and triple for the Blue Dons (11-6), while Amanda Paul added a single and double.

Montana Mascio added a pair of singles, while Taylor Thompson tripled.

Amanda Pulice earned the win with two strikeouts, one walk and just five hits – all singles.

Madonna will now host Clay-Battelle Saturday at noon.

Oak Glen beats Toronto

NEW MANCHESTER – The Oak Glen bats were hot in this outing against Toronto. The Golden Bears scored two runs in the bottom of the first with help from a Mykelti McGaffic base on balls and three singles from Mikayla Crane, Logan Andrews and Ashley Pryor.

The Red Knights put up a run in the top of the fourth with a double from C. Anderson, who would be brought around by a single from Merideth. Toronto scored another run in the fifth on errors.

Erin Fields hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning for Oak Glen.

Andrews won on the mound with eight strikeouts, while Desiree Meadows struck out four for Toronto.

Big Red rallies against BL

STEUBENVILLE – A six-run second inning helped Steubenville power past Beaver Local on Wednesday. Big Red won, 7-2 to improve to 12-7 on the year.

Westlake earned the win for Steubenville with four strikeouts. At the plate, Fields collected three hits. Biasi and Taylor each added two hits.
