Arai walks it off for Crusaders

STEUBENVILLE – Senior Jacob Arai had the game-winning hit to lift Steubenville Catholic Central over Bishop Donahue, 7-6, Thursday.

Arai’s second single, coming in the bottom of the seventh inning, scored Aleks Porreca.

Mark Rest earned the win for the undefeated Crusaders, striking out three and walking five in a complete game.

Chris Murphy tripled at the plate and Stone Romano collected a single and double. Porreca and Josh Merriman hit two singles, while Tony Barber, Michael Barber, Stone Romano and Brenton Colabella each had one hit.

Central is now 13-0 and plays Weir at Vaccaro Field today.

Big Red blasts Boardman

BOARDMAN – Anthony Zorne belted a two-run home run in the first inning to spark the Steubenville offense in a 7-2 win at Boardman on Wednesday.

Zorne added a single and double and plated a total of three runs. Niko Petrides, Dimitrios Collaros and Brandon Jones all collected two singles each. Petrides had two RBIs, while Collaros plated one run.

Kyle Peterson added an RBI single.

Justin Corsi earned the win with three strikeouts and two walks, pitching a complete game.

Big Red is now 12-4 and play at Indian Creek today.

Oak Glen powers past Red Knights

NEW MANCHESTER – The Oak Glen baseball team improved to 8-9 with a 9-2 win over Toronto on Wednesday.

Bub Haddox earned the win with nine strikeouts and two walks, in a complete game where he allowed just three hits.

Haddox also collected a pair of singles, a double and an RBI. Alec Swiger hit a double and drove in two runs. Mike Campbell added a single, double and two RBIs.

Noah Feicht drove in a run on a single, while Kyle Woodruff had a single and double.

Jaron McIntosh took the loss for Toronto, striking out three. Blaze Glenn and Dan Zdinak also pitched.

The Golden Bears host Magnolia today.

Edison tops Harrison

CADIZ – Edison recovered following its first loss of the season with a 7-4 win over Harrison Central on Wednesday.

Austin Horan pitched a complete game for the Wildcats (11-1), striking out four and not issuing a walk.

Horan, Dylan Jones, Nolan Marcus and Collin Skeeles all collected two hits. Jones, Skeeles, Storm Allese, Josh Pasek, Tanner Evans and Collin Scott all had an RBI.

Skeeles doubled, while Jones tripled.

For the Huskies, Zach Arbogast took the loss and struck out three before Ian Saho took over in the sixth inning.

Giovanni Rocchi led the Harrison offense with three hits.

MINGO JUNCTION – After 12 innings, the Indian Creek baseball game with Union Local was suspended at a 5-5 tie.

Cole Yeater started the game on the mound for the Redskins and struck out 12 batters, while walking just two. Anthony Krager then took over and finished with a pair of strikeouts with one walk.

At the plate, Jimmy Bolyog, Adam Freshwater and Sean Smith each collected two hits, with Freshwater driving in two runs and Smith having one RBI.

Mike Freshwater had a single with two RBIs, while Krager and Liam Campbell each reached on a single.
