Weir races past Bellaire

WEIRTON – Alyssa Shingle led the Red Riders with 16 points in their 53-41 win over Bellaire at home on Thursday.

Shingle, a senior, needs just eight points to reach the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Reagan Stead added 13 points for Weir, while Selena Wolverton scored 11.

Kiertyn Kidder led Bellaire with 16 points and Cari Crozier added 11.

The Red Riders host East Liverpool tonight.

Brooke beats Edison

WELLSBURG – Angela Staffileno scored 23 points, while Michaela Hinerman added 16 in Brooke’s 71-50 win over Edison on Thursday.

Paige Farmer added 13 points for the Bruins (5-11), while Christa D’Ulisse and Ashley Belegol each scored six.

For Edison (3-19), Amara Proffitt scored 13 points, while Abby Fonow added nine.

Kayli Stewart scored six points and Lynsey Morrison had five.

TORONTO – Makayla Bauman led the Toronto girls basketball team to a 75-31 win over Beallsville.

Josey Jones, Lindsay Bodnar and Lexie Berger each chipped in with 12 points. Berger hit a pair of 3-pointers.

Katie Spadafora added eight points, while Malaysia Harrison had six. Tabatha Bedford led Beallsville with 16 points.
