Prior to the Edison-Toronto boys basketball game on Friday, former Wildcats baseball coach Bill Beattie, left, was presented with a plaque by Bill Barclay, Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association Eastern District President. Beattie, the current Edison Superintendent was inducted into the OHSBCA Hall of Fame to honor an 18-year head coaching career. Beattie took over the coaching duties at the old Edison North School in 1989 and established a program that won sectional titles in 1991 and 1993. In 1994, he was named head coach at the consolidated Edison High School where he would go on to win several championships, highlighted by a state runner up finish in 2002 and a state poll championship in 2003. Beattie retired in 2006 and finished with a career coaching record of 286-171.
