Bears to play for third straight volleyball title
CHARLESTON – The Oak Glen volleyball team will play for its third straight state championship after a pair of wins Friday.
The Golden Bears defeated Philip Barbour in the semifinals in four games after dispatching Clay County with a three-game sweep in the quarterfinals.
The Class AA state title game will be the last of the tripleheader at the Charleston Civic Center today.
The Class AAA contest is first at 9:30 a.m., followed by Class A.
In the 25-11, 25-19, 25-22 victory over Clay County, Vanessa Hissam collected 11 kills, eight digs, four points and two blocks.
Morgan Poling added nine kills, five blocks, four digs and five points.
Jessica Stivason chipped in with 13 points, five kills, four blocks and seven digs.
Carissa Williams dished out 17 assists, to go along with her 10 points.
Kenzie Rosenlieb had 10 assists, four digs and four points. Emmy Delekta totaled five digs and four assists, Jessics Hutton three kills and three blocks, Alex Arnott two kills, Madison Juszczak seven points, four kills and two digs and Kami Koper one dig.
