Red Knights take first loss
TORONTO – Red Knights pitcher Nate Stewart allowed two doubles, but visiting Barnesville came away with a 4-3 victory Friday at the Knight Baseball Complex. It snapped Toronto’s 10-game winning streak to start the season.
Stewart went the distance. He struck out six and walked a like number.
Brad Melville singled for two RBIs for the Red Knights, who host Conotton Valley for a 12:30 p.m. doubleheader today. Blaze Glenn added two singles.

Red Riders sweep Cadets
WEIRTON – The Weir softball team rolled to a pair of victories, 8-1 and 14-4, Friday at Weir High School.
Abbey Pratt pitched both wins, striking out five and walking two over 11 innings of work.
Meikka Buffo punished the ball with a pair of home runs and a triple on the evening. Ashlyn Drizake had a home run, a double, two singles, and two RBIs. Emily Zatezalo smacked three doubles, and drove in four runs with Haley McLaughlin adding three singles, a double, and three RBIs.
Weir (6-9) welcomes Madonna today for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Game 1 is for the Weirton City Championship.

Crusaders win big
STEUBENVILLE – The Steubenville Catholic Central baseball team rolled to a 9-0 win over Parkersburg Catholic.
Chris Murphy was dominant on the mound for the Crusaders, striking out 13 batters and surrendering just four hits in the complete game shutout. Aleks Porreca had a single and a double with Brenton Colabella and Jacob Arai each delivering a pair of singles.
The Crusaders play two today with Huntinton St. Joe coming to town to play at 10 a.m. at Belleview and Tusky Central Catholic visiting Vaccaro at 5 p.m.
