Madonna, Oak Glen split on tennis court

WARWOOD – The Madonna boys tennis team split with Ritchie County Saturday.

The boys earned a 7-0 decision and the girls lost a 4-3 count.

Alan Alimario knocked off Hunter Bishop 8-6 in the closest match of the afternoon.

Nick Conforti downed Noah Laugh 8-2, Matt Conforti blanked Zach Bishop 8-0 and Thomas Gianni beat Kyle Knusten 8-1.

In doubles, Dom Clements and Dustin Parr defeated Kevin Cantrell and Gavin Vincent 8-4. Conforti and Conforti netted an 8-2 win over Laugh and Hunter Bishop and Alimario and Giani stopped Zach Bishop and Knusten 8-1.

Madonna’s Elizabeth Conforti and Christine Bae defeated Jessie West and Tiffany Gilmore in the closest match of the day, earning a 10-8 victory in the tiebreaker for a 9-8 win.

Ritchie County won the other two doubles matches as Jaccie Haugh and Mikayla Hayes nipped Annie Frankovitch and Eva Bowser 8-6 and Veronica Mueller and Olivia Haught topped Ali Welch and Tina Conforti by 8-2 counts.

In singles action, Welch beat Haught 8-5 and Elizabeth Conforti blanked Gilmore 8-0. Mueller beat Amy Davis and West stopped Tina Conforti by 8-4 scores.

Oak Glen splits

BETHANY – The Oak Glen girls tennis team split its matches Saturday at Bethany College, while the Golden Bears boys lost twice.

The Lady Bears defeated Weir High, 7-0, and all were by 8-0 scores.

In singles, Oak Glen’s Haley Spurlock, Anna Crawford, Abbi Sayre and Madison Juszczak defeated Emily Giordano, Ryleigh Glaspell, Ashley Anderson and Bailey Tusick.

In doubles, Spurlock and Juszczak beat Morgan Cassels and Mikayla Zias, Crawford and Sayre beat Jasmine Wilson and Hannah Hinerman and Lauren Pizzuro and Madison Hill beat Markelle Dilullo and Alexi Bruno.

Oak Glen dropped a 4-3 decision to Linsly.

The Cadets’ Rosalie Haizlett and Clara Haizlett defeated Pizzuro and Hill, in the closest match, 8-6.

Crawford and Sayre topped Emmy Weaner and Jasmine Shah 8-0, while Jackie McDermott and Amekae Kamen beat Spurlock and Juszczak 8-3.

In singles, Sayre topped Weaver 8-1 and Jusczcak beat Shah 8-3, while McDermott downed Spurlock 8-3 and Kamen beat Crawford 8-1.

The Weir High and Linsly boys defeated Oak Glen, 5-2.

The Red Riders’ Chad Hensley beat Jake Beilhart and Steve Maragos defeated Nate Bennett by 8-6 counts. Matt Barnes topped Evan Hall 8-3.

Oak Glen’s Addison Sayre beat Stephen White 8-2.

In doubles, Sayre and Beilhart netted an 8-3 win over Maragos and Barnes. White and Hensley defeated Hall and Bennett 8-4 and Weir’s Brendan Wade and Tyler Conrad beat Cullenn Bennett and Christian White 8-3.

Against Linsly, Beilhart defeated Nick Kinyan 8-4 and Hall beat Jonathan Gabriel 8-6. Weston Meade topped Sayre 8-3 and Andrew Shin nipped Nate Bennett 9-7.

Meade and Kinyan beat Sayre and Beilhart and Shin and Regen Chen beat Hall and Nate Bennett by 8-5 counts. Will White and Rongkai Sha beat Cullen Bennett and White 8-3.
