Is raising the minimum wage to $12 per hour a good idea?

Absolutely not! Why you may ask? Because it makes my wage and money worth less. I have a good middle class job, especially for around here. People like me buy new cars, buy homes, hire contractors, support families. When you raise min. wage, cost of living increases, and people like me don't get an instant pay raise so it makes life harder on those of us that actually support the economy.

Ohiodem must be around 60+ years old. Why would you begrudge anyone from a decent wage.

Do the math $12 times roughly 2000 hours is only 24,000 bucks. Everyone working should have the ability to make that amount; even a first year teacher.

When I started work in the mill minimum wage was $1.25 and labor in the mill was around $2.10. Now the starting wage on what good middle class jobs there are is at least 3 times minimum wage. wage.

I think it should be raised but $12 may be a bit too high. The president wants $10.10 that would more reasonable I think. It depends on where you are to, even $12 an hour in some states is not enough.

I find it very difficult to believe that ANYONE living and working in a depressed area such as this would be opposed to having the minimum wage raised.
