Meronoff leads Central golf
CADIZ - At the Cadiz Country Club on Wednesday, Steubenville Catholic Central's Austin Meronoff shot a 32 and led the Crusaders to a team victory in a tri-match against Harrison Central and River.
Central shot a team score of 155 and Kevin Wells had 39, Nick Ivkovich had 40 and Brandon Svec had 44.
Harrison Central shot a team score of 161, led by Bryce Walrath's 37. Austin Kowalski had a 39 and Jarett Edwards had a 42, Clint Heavilin and Hunter Sloan each shot 43.
The River team score was 181.
Creek falls to Carrollton
WINTERSVILLE - The Carrollton volleyball team topped Indian Creek in three sets on Wednesday.
Carrollton won, 25-15, 25-22, 25-12.
Bre Berryman led the Redskins (0-1) with 11 kills and one block.
Bethany Davis had nine digs, two blocks, two kills and an ace; Savannah Shanley had 24 assists, eight digs and one kill and Sydney Karas had five kills and four digs.
Dakota Devore added 13 digs.
Toronto sweeps Shadyside
TORONTO - The Toronto volleyball team opened its 2014 season with a home victory sweep vs Shadyside. The Red Knights won sets, 25-10, 25-13 and 25-10.
"I am incredibly proud of the way these ladies started their season," said Toronto head coach Chelsey Fletcher. "We are a very young team and I could not be any more proud of the way these ladies showed court maturity with such youthful experience."
The Red Knights face Bellaire St. John today.
Oak Glen tickets for sale
NEW MANCHESTER - Tickets for Oak Glen's first football game against Edison at Jimmy Carey Stadium will be on sale through Aug. 29.
Tickets can be purchased at the Oak Glen High School main office, Citizen's Drug Store in Chester and New Cumberland Pharmacy during regular business hours.
All tickets are $10 and are good for the entire day's events including the kickoff concert by Spinning Jenny beginning at 3 p.m., the Oak Glen-Edison game at 4 p.m., the Junior Bears-Little Steelers scrimmage and the Steubenville Central-Weir High game at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets will also be available at the gate.

NEW MANCHESTER - Players are needed for the annual Oak Glen Alumni Football Game schedule for Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Oak Glen Sports Complex.

STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red Boosters Club will begin meeting at the Harding Stadium Field House on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. starting Tuesday.

Nagy sinks hole-in-one
NEW CUMBERLAND - Alec Nagy hit a hole-in-one on Aug. 16 in the Fritz Williams tour at Mountaineer's Woodview Golf Course.
Nagy hit in on the No. 17 hole, using an L-wedge.
Witnesses were Rick Mikula, Dave Minda and Mike Hawthrone.
