Crusaders down Bobcats
CAMBRIDGE - The Steubenville Catholic Central volleyball team opened its season with a 25-23, 27-25, 25-18 victory at Cambridge Saturday afternoon.
Suzy Thibault led the way with a team-high 22 points. Megan Lloyd added 17 points and 22 sets, Ashlynne Daley five points and Fran Capaldi 12 points and 11 sets.
The Crusaders welcome Buckeye Local at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Central selling tickets
STEUBENVILLE - Catholic Central football season tickets will be on sale from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in the cafeteria.
Panthers selling tickets
RAYLAND - Buckeye Local will sell football season tickets and all-sport passes from 10 a.m. to noon at the high school athletic office and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the football stadium in Yorkville on Friday. The Panthers will scrimmage Linsly at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Prices are as follows: football season tickets $35; all-sport passes (good for grades 7-12): adult $100, student $50 and senior $40.
Pre-sale varsity football tickets will be sold on Fridays during lunch times at the high school from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Home pre-sale tickets are adults $5 and students $4. All tickets at the gates are $6.
Creek selling tickets
WINTERSVILLE - The Indian Creek athletic department is selling football program ads, football season tickets for $25 and student activity passes for $35.
Tickets and passes can be purchased at the high school athletic department The last day to purchase season tickets is Friday.

Riders to hold meet the team
WEIRTON - Weir High will hold a football steak fry and season kickoff at 6 p.m. Friday at the Serbian picnic grounds. It will include meeting the football team. Cost is $15 for a steak dinner and $5 for a hot dog meal. All Red Riders and Little Steelers football players are free.

STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Catholic Central fall sports meet the team takes place at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school pavilion.
Crimson Center hosts girls fall ball
STEUBENVILLE - The 2014 Steubenville Girls Fall Basketball League will take place on Sundays in the fall, beginning Sept. 14. The league will last until Oct. 19.
Girls will be split into two divisions - middle school and high school. Only two players from the same school will be allowed on the same team.
The cost is $60 per player, which includes T-shirt and officiated games. Make checks payable to SHS Athletics.

Softball Academy team opening
STEUBENVILLE - The Division I Softball Academy on Sunset Blvd. is starting a 12U team.

Crusaders top Monarchs
STEUBENVILLE - Nick Ivkovich and Kevin Wells shared medalist honors with 38s on Friday as the Catholic Central golf team defeated John Marshall, 165-200, Friday at Steubenville Country Club.
Austin Meronoff shot 41 and Matt Fischer 48 for the Crusaders.
Nick Snyder and Colton Patrello had 47s for the Monarchs, while Austin Blake and Kaylee Pettit each shot 53.
Seeking band members
RAYLAND - The Buckeye Local School District Alumni Band will march with the Panthers' band at the football game on Sept. 12. All band alumni (including all consolidated schools) are invited to participate.
