Red Riders to sell tickets
WEIRTON - Weir High will sell football tickets from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at the high school. Current season tickets will be held until Aug. 18.
Cost of the four-game package is $20.
Also being sold is a 10-event adult ticket strip for $50 that may be used an any Weir varsity athletic event during the school year.
A student pass will be sold for $50 and that will be good for any home athletic event for the school year.

Riders to hold meet the team
WEIRTON - Weir High will hold a football steak fry and season kickoff at 6 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Serbian picnic grounds. It will include meeting the football team. Cost is $15 for a steak dinner and $5 for a hot dog meal. All Red Riders and Little Steelers football players are free.

Fritz Williams golf tourney coming
WEIRTON - The annual Ron (Fritz) Williams Memorial Golf Classic will be held Saturday at Mountaineer Woodview Golf Course. The event, which is a four-man scramble format, is held each year to raise funds for the Fritz Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The $60 entry fee per person includes golf cart, 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch and prizes. It is open to amateurs only. There will be a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Brooke season tickets on sale
WELLSBURG - Season tickets for the 2014 varsity football season will be available in the athletic office from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The cost of the tickets is $24 per set with seating contracts for six home games. Current season ticket holders must pick up their tickets no later than Aug. 15 in order to retain current seating.
If you do not have a current seating contract, the cost is $75 per seat plus $24 for this season's tickets. Any ticket packets purchased after Friday will be $5 per game. Unsold reserved seats will be sold on a per game basis for $5 per seat during the week of the games.
Preferred parking passes for current pass holders may be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.
Edison to sell tickets
RICHMOND - Edison football season tickets and senior citizen passes will be on sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday in the athletic office. It will be renewals only Monday and Tuesday, new seat holders Wednesday and Thursday and exchanges Friday.
Season tickets will consist of four tickets at $32 a seat. The first home game of the season against Oak Glen will be played at 4 p.m. Aug. 30 at Weir High. The game will be sold as a separate ticket and includes a full day of events.
Senior citizen passes for Edison High School athletic events will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at no charge starting Monday at the high school main office to those who reside inside the district.
Out-of-district passes will be $25. For information, call the high school at (740) 765-4313.
Buckeye Local meeting set
RAYLAND - Buckeye Local will hold its mandatory OHSAA preseason sportsmanship-eligibility meeting for fall sports at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the BLHS theater.
The meeting is mandatory for all Buckeye Local fall sport participants in grades seven through 12.
Volleyball officials classes starting
WELLSVILLE - Volleyball officials training classes to obtain OHSAA and WVSSAC certification will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Jim Kenney Marina. Successful completion of the course will allow participants to officiate for the fall season. Classes will consist of bookwork, computer lessons and in-game mechanics.

Tennis tournament to be held
CHESTER - The Builders Wholesale Open Tennis Tournament will be held the second and third weeks of August, with the deadline to enter Sunday. All proceeds will be divided equally between the Chester-Newell F.I.S.H. and the Weirton United Way. All participants will receive a T-shirt paid for by Builders Wholesale and it will not be taken out of the entrance fee. There will be 25 divisions.
Finals and semifinals are scheduled at Mountaineer Racetrack, Casino and Gaming Resort and Starvaggi Courts the weekend of Aug. 23.
Entrance fees are $20 for adult singles and $20 per team of adult doubles. Entrance fees for 18-and-under competitors are $15 for singles and $15 per team of doubles.

Softball Academy team opening
STEUBENVILLE - The Division I Softball Academy on Sunset Blvd. is starting a 12U team.
