CULVER, Paul E., Sr., 88, of Hopedale, OH, died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Gables Care Center, Hopedale.
He was born May 17, 1926, in The Plains, Ohio, a son of the late George Leonard and Ethel Hungerford Culver.
Mr. Culver was a retired Coal Miner from the Nelms 2 Mine of Y. & O. Coal Company at Hopedale. He was a Protestant by faith. He was an Army Veteran of WW II and was a lifetime member of Hopedale Post 682 of the American Legion and a member of the VFW and the UMWA. He enjoyed being with his family and tinkering.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nalda Slater Culver in 1994; a daughter, Mary Case; a brother, Emmett Culver; and five sisters, Doris Hambel, Mildred Colby, Frieda Friend, Blanche Bowersock and Gladys Landis.
Surviving are two sons, Paul Culver, Jr. (Barbara) of Thornville and Thomas Culver (Melissa Lebold) of New Philadelphia; three daughters, Sharon Atkins of Hopedale, Lynn Grabits of Cadiz and Elizabeth Hennis of Hopedale; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters- in-law, Sara Gill of Newark and Shirley Slater of The Plains, OH.
Friends may call Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St. Cadiz, OH, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 29 at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Hopedale Cemetery.
