BLOOM, Grace Virginia, 90, of Weirton, departed this life for her Eternal role in heaven on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
Born in Gary, WV on March 11, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Felix and Edna Rumley Gilreath.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Bloom, on Sept. 29, 1990; two sons, Thomas E. Bloom in January of 1963 and Russell A. Bloom on September 5, 1999, and a sister, Etta Mae Thomas.
Grace was a homemaker, who was vested in her children and their activities. She enjoyed gardening, taking care of her flowers especially her roses, and shopping.
Her church was a very important part of her life. She was an active member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Weirton.
She was a member of the Weirton Housing Authority Board in the 1970's. She was formerly involved with the Eastern Star and the BPOE in North Weirton.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons; Leonard O. Bloom (Margaret) of O'Fallon, IL, Robert L. Bloom (Sherril) of Baltimore, MD and Keith Bloom of Weirton, WV; two daughters, Cheryl A. Smith of Baltimore, MD and Stephanie K. Simmons (William "Jack") of Monroeville, PA; eight grandchildren and several great-grand children.
Visitation will be held Sunday 1-3 and 6-8 p.m at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 3124 Weir Ave., Weirton, WV. Rev. Willie Nevels will preside.
Interment will be in Paris Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of her son, Thomas E. Bloom.
