Herald-Star

Steubenville Catholic Central graduate Madeline Gulan, flanked by her parents Rich and Kathy Gulan, will continue her academic and athletic careers at Fairmont State, where she will major in accounting and be a member of the softball team. Gulan started every game at Central in four years, an 82-21 record. Gulan finished holding two career school records with 116 RBIs and 23 home runs. Gulan also had 134 hits and scored 100 runs, both of which head coach Jim DiCarlo believe are second on the career list behind teammate and fellow graduate Micca Mirabella. Gulan delivered an extra base hit in 46 percent of her at-bats. Gulan's on-base percentage was .470 with a .407 batting average in 329 at-bats. Also on hand for the signing were, from left, Crusaders Athletic Director Steve Daley, DiCarlo, assistant coach Bill Davis, former assistant coach Craig Creamer, Road Runners head coach Rick Sherman and Central Principal Rich Wilinski.
