Crawford E. Delong, 89, of New Cumberland, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014.
Born November 17, 1924, in Colliers, WV, he was the son of the late Crawford S. and Clarice (Garvin) Delong.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Sherhag.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, during the invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He was a graduate of Follansbee High School. He retired from Weirton Steel as a general carpenter foreman and was a member of the 25-Year Club. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Weirton and a former member of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Wright) Delong of New Cumberland; and a son, David C. Delong of Ohio.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Nixon Funeral Home in New Cumberland, WV, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014.
Burial will follow at the New Cumberland Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group and a Masonic service will be held at the cemetery.
