Herald-Star
Sixteen-year-old Madison Parks of Steubenville steers a racer co-sponsored by Sebring Dental to the finish line Saturday during the ninth-annual Quakertown Super Kids Soap Box Derby held along South Broadway Avenue in Salem. Madison, who is home schooled, is a veteran racer and came from the longest distance to compete in Salem. The event for handicapped youngsters is co-sponsored by the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the York Drexler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5532 in Washingtonville. Twenty area businesses and groups sponsored the event, which featured 28 racers, 14 ghost drivers and other volunteers.
