The Franciscan University's Women's Scholarship Guild recently held its annual fundraising event "Spring Into Spring" to a capacity crowd in the Tony and Nina Gallery of the J.C. Williams Center on the campus.
The event is sponsored by the Franciscan University Women's Scholarship Guild and supports the Rose M. DeFede Scholarship Fund. Members of the DeFede family were in attendance in a show of support.
The evening consisted of entertainment by the Catholic Central High School Steel Drum Band; a testimonial by scholarship recipient Cheryl Myers; food; fellowship; and numerous prizes.

The Rev. Nathan Malavolti, vice president for community relations, served as master of ceremonies, assisted by Anita Jackson, director of community relations and event coordinator. Malavolti acknowledged longtime members of the guild and also paid tribute to university professors Tiffany Boury, adviser to the scholarship recipient, and Kathryn McVey, chair of the education department.
Mary Salter, Mickie Sellaroli, Patricia Fletcher and Jackson, part of the steering committee, are more than 30-year members of the guild. Sellaroli is a charter member.
