Brooke graduate Kelaen Welch, flanked by his mother Tracy and sister Olivia Welch, will continue his academic and athletic careers at Alderson-Broaddus, where he will major in marketing and be a member of the baseball team. Welch was a three-year starter for the Bruins and finished his career with a .331 batting average, 49 RBIs, 49 runs scored and 24 doubles. He had a .411 on-base percentage and a .494 slugging percentage as a senior, when the Bruins finished 19-9. Also on hand for the signing were, from left, Brooke Assistant Principal Tim Pannett, baseball coach Ron Ujcich and father Chris Welch. "I would like to thank Brian Perkins, coach U, John White, Nick Croce and Toni Shute for all they have done for me," said Welch.
