BYESVILLE - Steubenville once again put forth a nice showing at the Division II district track meet at Meadowbrook High School on Saturday. The Big Red girls were fourth overall with 65 points.
The regional opens Thursday afternoon at Muskingum University.
Big Red was led by sophomore Elise Watts. She won the long jump with a mark of 17-1 1/2. She was also second in the high hurdles at 15.48.

Steubenville posted arguably the most impressive victory of the day when the team of Watts, Kira Newburn, Knisha Sanders and Lysiah Rice blitzed the 4x2 field for the victory in a time of 1:45.79. The Big Red time was nearly three full seconds ahead of Martins Ferry.
Rice was third in both the 100 (12.74) and 200 (26.48). Big Red's 4x1 team was fourth in 51.50.
Indian Creek's Whitney Martin continued her impressive senior campaign. She's continued to drop time and turn it on in the two short sprints. She won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes in 12.46 and 25.59, respectively.
Creek freshman Madison Smith joined Martin in the winner's circle after capturing the 400 meter dash in 60.85.
In the field, steady senior Kristen Shimko won the discus with a twirl of 112-ft-2.
The Redskins' 4x2 finished fourth in 1:49.69.
The Martins Ferry Purple Riders' girls' track team spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons in Division III.
The returned to Division II this season and left Meadowbrook High School with yet another piece of hardware.
Coach Rich Materkoski's squad tallied 67 points to finish in a distant tie for second with Morgan, trailing only John Glenn.
Martins Ferry won just one event during the course of the 17-event meet and it was on Thursday. Senior Rikki Allen captured the pole vault, soaring over 9-3.
Jamie Truchan was the runnerup in the 1600 meters. She ran four laps in 5:34.71 to advance.
The Purple Riders were strong in the relays, qualifying in both the 4x2 and 4x4.
In the 4x2, the team of Sarah Applegarth, Ashley Griffith, Malyah Coleman and Talyr Jenkins posted a 1:48.47 for the silver medal.
The 4x4 team of Truchan, Dalethia Johnson, Lauren Bennett and Sarah Applegarth posted a 4:15.96 to earn a bronze medal.
Senior Nikki Allen was fourth in the high hurdles, skimming 10 timebrs in 16.52.
Sophomore Tyesha Allen qualified fourth in the 300 low hurdles, running a 48.09.
Johnson was third in the 400 with a 61.93. Freshman Candace Kendzierski was third in the shot put with a throw of 34-4.
St. Clairsville - on the strength of its speed in the short sprints - had a strong showing and scored 54 points.
The Red Devils' lone victory came when the team of Mechenzie Wood, Kennady Walker, Hannah Jordan and Ayla Stewart teamed to run a lap in 50.28.
Stewart - the speedy senior - continued her impressive final campaign. She was second in the 200 meter dash with a 26.13 and fourth in the 100 in 12.75.
Walker also qualified in the 200, running half lap in 26.61.
In the field, sophomore Mikayla Westlake qualified third in the high jump with a clearance of 4-10.
Union Local qualified a trio to the regional.
Freshman Megan Bateman ran eight laps in 13:15.00 to finish fourth in the 3200 meters.
Kylie Russell earned a return trip in the pole vault on Thursday and Mikayla Patton qualified in the shot put the same evening.
Edison's lone regional representative will be senior Ashley Borsch. She'll run in both the high and low hurdles. She was third in the highs (16.47) and second in the lows (47.28).
