To the editor:
Benghazi, IRS, Fast and Furious, repeal of the Affordable Care Act, cuts to food stamps, privitization of the Postal Service, an increase in interest rates for student loans, cuts to Social Security, a refusal to address immigration legislation, voter suppression, constant searches to find scandals where none exist and millions of taxpayer dollars spent on witchhunts and dead ends - these issues, and many more, show us what the Republican extremists in Congress have spent six years persuing.
But what are they for? No one knows. Have they submitted a jobs bill which would stimulate the economy? No. Have they submitted an alternative to Obamacare that would fix the problems they say exist in the current law? No, but they've voted 51 times to repeal the entire law. Have they read the 25,000 pages of documents they've been given regarding the investigation into the Benghazi attack? No.
The CIA, FBI, NSA and DOD have spent two years reviewing all the documents regarding that terrorist attack and found nothing that would support further hearings as to a cover-up or political misconduct. But facts mean nothing to these twits - they've made up their own set of facts, and the march to massive distraction continues. Why? They're using this event that killed four Americans to solicit money for more political folly. What a disgrace.
If you want to see who's wasting your tax money to build a cushion for themselves in the next election, just watch who's dragging this country through the mud. Their names and faces will be on every television show for the next six months, trying to convince you that it is more important to grandstand than it is to put people back to work and pay them a living wage.
While they fiddle, the Crimea and Ukraine get gobbled up by Vladimir Putin. Putin is no fool. He sees how fractured our government is, and as a former KGB officer he knows how to take advantage of a weakness when he sees one. He knows that the extreme right would shut down the entire U.S. government to make themselves look good. They'll put the security of this nation on the back burner just to prove a point, and he's betting they'll never come together to stop him. So far, he's been right.
He knows that the hatred for our president is so deep within our own Congress that no matter what he does, they'll blame the lack of a united front on him, and Putin can go on his merry way with little fear of retribution.
This is what happens when you have people in Congress who can't see any further than the end of their nose and are driven by hatred. Remember the face and names of those pushing the fiasco hearings on Benghazi. These are the people we need to vote out of office. We need real leaders, not clowns who think our country should emulate Disneyland. Even the valley stooges should be able to see that.
