Afternoon tea at Brightway Center
The Brightway Center will host an afternoon tea at the activity center at 1 p.m. May 24.
The cost is $15 for mother and daughter and an additional $5 extra for each daughter. Single women may attend for $10.
Those attending are asked to bring their favorite tea cup and saucer to enjoy the tea.
Attendees are to pay for the reservations by May 21 or make arrangements with Kathy Takash by calling (740) 733-7480.
Entertainment will be provided by the Kara's Kids Youth Group.
There will be music, skits, and games, plus door prizes. A luncheon will be provided.
Line dancing set for Monday
Ivy Jo Smith will lead participants in line dancing on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, 905 Market St., Steubenville.
The event is sponsored by the Urban Mission Ministries/Neighborhood Community Development Center and is funded by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health.
'Bikers for Veterans' ride Saturday
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2716 will hold a "Bikers for Veterans" ride Saturday, beginning and ending at the post at 3435 Main St., Weirton.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. Last bike out is 1 p.m. and last bike in is 5 p.m. Cars and bikes are welcome. The event includes food, a 50/50 drawing and a special prize. Ticket are $15 per rider and $10 per passenger. Proceeds benefit the Brooke-Hancock County Veterans Memorial.
Variety of programs at library branches
Various programs are planned through the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County. They include:
-- Design thank-you cards at the Schiappa branch on Monday at 12:30 p.m. Ellen Barner of Stampin' Up will guide participants on how to create cards with $15 for 15 cards to be paid to the instructor the day of the program. Register by calling (740) 264-6166.

-- Play and Learn the Alphabet (caregiver and children ages 2-6) will be held at the Toronto branch on Wednesday at noon and at the Tiltonsville branch on Monday at 11 a.m.

-- A new cooking demonstration at the Schiappa branch starts Monday at 6:30 p.m. "Have Your Cake & Eat It Too" will have participants look at food in a new way. Health Coach Angela Lombardo will feature an ingredient each month and demonstrate two ways to prepare it. May's theme is "Glorious Greens." The program is free. -- Gaming for teens will be offered at the Schiappa branch on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Wii and other popular games are available.

-- Tot Time (caregiver and children ages 2-3) will be held at the Tiltonsville branch on Monday at 6 p.m. Stories, songs and more are shared. Call (740) 859-5163 to register.
Tri-State Marine Corps Auxiliary meets
The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary met May 12 at the Serbian American Cultural Center in Weirton. Marcy Spano gave the invocation, reading "Mom's Finish Line."
Vice President Darlene Kemp called roll and led in opening exercises. Secretary Carol Lyons read the April meeting minutes and read a thank-you card from Boatsie's Boxes for more than 450 Easter cards and snacks sent to the troops and a thank-you card from the Barboursville Veterans Home for nearly 100 Easter cards and six birthday cards sent to veterans in April. Lola Tremblay sent a donation toward snacks for the troops.
Reports were given by Treasurer Shirley Brecht and Sunshine Chair Mary Ann Elliott.
Historian Marcy Spano passed out pictures of the group with the items donated to the troops.
Leroy Bee will place the auxiliary wreath and Jim Jurosko the club wreath at the Memorial Day service May 26 at Weirton Heights Park.
Jo-Ann Johns won the 50/50 drawing and donated it back to the club treasury.
Joan Spano served refreshments. The schedule for the rest of the year is: LaVonne Balint, June 9; Mary Ann Smith, July 14; Jo-Ann Johns and Mary Ann Elliott, Aug. 11; Leroy Bee, Sept. 8; Maxine Ragan, Oct. 13; and Carol Lyons, Nov. 10.
The auxiliary will hold its bakeless bake sale in June. Proceeds benefit the annual Marine Ball and club picnic. The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. June 9.
