An annual music workshop and conference that began in 1976 and continued through 2002 is making a comeback at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ, 128 S. Fifth St., Steubenville.
"Sing Ye Praises with Understanding" will be the theme of the three-day event that kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday with a musical extravaganza featuring the Sons of Second, Sharon Cooper, Quinn AME Senior and Youth choirs, Michael Jett, Kareena Williams, T.C. Brown, the Rev. Patricia Angel and others, according to Delores Wiggins, chairman and facilitator.
On Saturday at 10 a.m., there will be a registration of classes for vocal, harmony, music theory, choir discipline, choir directing and drums. The classes will be taught "by professional and capable people."

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, and the workshop rehearsal for adults and children will get under way at 1:30 p.m. The evening service will begin at 7 p.m. and feature Sister Cynthia Willis, Sister Juliett Hamilton and the St. Peters AME Senior Choir. The guest speaker will be Pastor Ruth Lattimore of Pittsburgh.
The children and adult workshop choirs will be in concert at 5 p.m. Sunday with Brother Davis Sims as the guest minister of music.
