pancake breakfast set for Sunday
First Westminster Presbyterian Church, 235 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, will host a Mother's Day pancake breakfast on Sunday, serving from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
All are welcome to attend.
Girl Scout cookies for local food banks
Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council still has 2,000 cases - 12 boxes each - of cookies that need to be sold.
And it has a great place to send them, according to a news release from Roseann L. Teramana, community engagement manager, Region 1.
"You can feed the hungry by making a donation today. Girl Scouts has partnered with local food banks throughout our entire 61-county area, and we need your help," the release notes. A gift of $20 will provide five boxes of Girl Scout cookies to local food banks, and a gift of $50 will provide an entire case.

Free community dinner
May 22 at Wellsburg church
A free community dinner will be offered by the First Presbyterian Church at 6 p.m. on May 22.
Ham and a variety of side dishes and desserts will be served. Everyone is invited.
The church is located at Ninth and Charles streets, Wellsburg.
Union holds meeting
The Women's Missionary Union of the Open Door Baptist Church of Colliers met May 6 with six members present.
Mildred Richter, president, presided at the meeting with the opening prayer given by Donna Garrison.
Money was collected for the three missions that the group supports.
Reports were given by Garrison, secretary, and Pam Holden, treasurer.
Holden read a letter from missionary Becky McGregor. A mission dignity letter was read by Nancy Petrel.
Mother's Day flowers were purchased for the mothers of the church. The May shoe box collection is for lip balm, sunglasses and flip flops. Members will bring desserts for the May 16 spaghetti dinner.
May 16-17 is the WMU annual meeting in Beckley, W.Va., which marks WMU's 125th anniversary. The theme is "Missions for Life."
Rosemary Jennings gave devotions entitled "A Mother's Love."
The next meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on June 3. Holden will serve as hostess.
St. Agnes CWC planning
spring banquet for May 20
Joanne Raha presided for the April meeting of the St. Agnes Catholic Woman's Club that was held at Scaffidi's Restaurant and Tavern in Steubenville.
The opening prayer was given by the Rev. James Dunfee, who also gave the closing prayer.
Discussion was held on the spring card party held on April 27 in the parish hall to the theme is "The Good Ol' Summertime."
The spring banquet will be held May 20 in the parish hall.
St. Agnes CWC was asked to host the Day with the Bishop. The date is to be announced.
The next Deanery meeting will be held Sept. 7 in Toronto.
Thomas Nelson and Edward Maxfield will be ordained on May 16.
Discussion was held on the Diocesan Convention that will be held June 3-4.
It was announced that the parish picnic will be in held in the St. Agnes parish hall.
Dunfee announced that he is planning a bible study group.
Discussion was held on the Madonna Plan.
Favors were butterfly trinket boxes.
The next regular meeting will be held Aug. 25.
The members were wished a good summer.
Revival services scheduled
at Faith Chapel, Steubenville
The Rev. Leslie Buckner of Missouri will be the featured speaker for upcoming revival services planned at Faith Chapel of Steubenville, which is located at 201 township Road 375, Steubenville.
Buckner, the founder of Bible Way Association of Doniphan, Mo., will preach on May 16 and 17, both days at 7 p.m., and on May 18 at the 10:45 a.m. service. For information, contact Pastor Herman Tranter at (740) 282-3439.
More Than A Show set to perform at Carrollton church
More Than A Show, a Christian rock band from Sidney, Ohio, will perform in concert at 6:30 p.m. on May 17 at the Carrollton Bible Chapel, 365 Steubenville Road S.E., Carrollton.
It is open to the public with admission being two food items requested and to be donated to the Loaves and Fishes, the local food pantry. A love offering will be taken, and refreshments will be served afterwards.
More Than A Show also will be assisting the church's praise team during the 10:30 a.m. worship service on May 18. The band organized in 2007 and performs throughout Ohio and the surrounding states. Vacation Bible School
scheduled at Starkdale
Starkdale Presbyterian Church, Sunset Boulevard, Steubenville, will be holding its vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on June 9-13.
The theme will be "SON Treasure Island" and is open to children in preschool and kindergarten through sixth grade.
It will include Bible stories, skits, music and a light lunch. All are welcome to attend.
