Wildcats cruise past St. C
RICHMOND - The Edison baseball team broke open a 3-1 lead with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and cruised to an 8-1 victory over visiting St. Clairsville Friday at Jefferson Lake State Park.
Clay Woodward earned the win. He struckout eight and walked one. Austin Horan pitched the final inning and fanned the side.
Woodward collected a pair of doubles. Collin Scott totaled two singles and a pair of RBIs. Tanner Evans added three singles and Storm Allese and Collin Skeeles each had a single and RBI.
The Wildcats meet Wheeling Park at 1:30 p.m. today at Vaccaro Field in the OVAC Class 5A championship.

Hawks blank Bruins
WELLSBURG - The Brooke baseball team fell to 12-7 after being shutout for the first time this season, 9-0, by visiting University on Friday.
Heath Hildreth took the loss. Mario Lombardi and Chad Harper each singled twice for the Bruins, who visit Magnolia at 2:30 p.m. today for a single game.

Panthers stop Huskies
CADIZ - The Buckeye Local baseball team scored a pair of runs in the first and fifth innings and took a 4-1 victory over host Harrison Central Friday at Sally Buffalo Park.
Jonathan Borkoski earned the victory. He fanned seven and walked three in going the distance. He also doubled for an RBI.
Eric Banal singled three times for an RBI for the winners. Brandon Panepucci doubled for two RBIs. Zach Kaiser singled twice.
Dalton Rutter singled and doubled for an RBI for the Huskies. Giovanni Rocchi had two singles. Reese Saho took the loss.

WELLSBURG - The University softball team scored three runs in the sixth and added four in the seventh to erase a 2-0 deficit and leave with a 7-2 victory over host Brooke Friday.
Brette Geary had a single and two RBIs for the Bruins. Taylor Simala added a pair of singles.
Brooke (11-12) visits Magnolia today for a 10 a.m. doubleheader.

Edison soccer to host dinner
RICHMOND - The Edison boys soccer team will host its third-annual spaghetti dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in the high school cafeteria. The team will raise funds to help offset their pay-to-play. Come out and support the team and then catch the high school choir concert, which will follow in the auditorium.
Frankovitch at Garrett CC
McHENRY, Md. - Weirton Madonna graduate Drazen Frankovitch, who played basketball on the Dons' 2010-11 state championship team and its 2011-12 state semifinal team, recently completed a redshirt freshman season at Garrett Community College. Frankovitch averaged two points and two rebounds a game and played in all 32 of the Lakers' games.
They won the NJCAA Region 20 title and advanced to the national JUCO tournament. After graduation, The 6-foot-6-inch Frankovitch originally signed to play at Aquinas College (NAIA) in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he redshirted. He transferred to Garrett last summer.
