Vehicles broken into in Richmond
STEUBENVILLE - Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is investigating another rash of vehicle break-ins, this time in Richmond.
The sheriff's department reported more than a dozen vehicles were broken into overnight on various streets, including Sugar, Walnut and Lisbon streets and Cedar Road.
The sheriff's department reported prior to the latest calls, there have been 23 vehicles broken into, mainly in the Bloomingdale area.
Deputies were concentrating on the Bloomingdale area Tuesday night when the Richmond break-ins were occurring.
Deputies said vehicle windows were broken and items, including change, were taken.

Officers looking at broken truck windows
STEUBENVILLE - City Police are trying to determine how windows on a truck were broken after a nearby shots fired call was received early today.
Police were called around 2:54 a.m. today to the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and Ohio Street about five shots being fired. Officers then found a pickup truck with its passenger and driver windows broken. Since no shell casings were found, officers said they were unable to determine how the windows were broken.
Man struck by vehicle
WEIRTON - A male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Penco Road and Cove Hill Road Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.
The call came in at 1:59 p.m., and the pedestrian was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital by helicopter, according to Lt. Greg Moody of the Weirton Police Department.
Further details were unavailable, and the incident is still being investigated.
City man sentenced in shooting incident
STEUBENVILLE - Travis S. Gray, 22, of 1441 Belleview Blvd. was sentenced to five years in prison on Tuesday by Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr. in connection with a shooting incident on March 28.
Gray pleaded guilty to a bill of information charging felonious assault, with a firearm specification.
According to reports, Gray shot a man in the foot in the 1500 block of Ridge Avenue allegedly in connection with a burglary committed earlier by Gray. The shooting victim, who was also the victim of the reported burglary, was trying to get Gray to get into a vehicle.
Jefferson County small animal tag-in
SMITHFIELD - The Jefferson County small market animal tag-in will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The event is only for goats, lambs and feeder calves and will be held until 11 a.m.
Youth showing hogs are to turn in information only from the packet they receive between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.
This tag-in is for all youth planning to participate with these animal species at the Jefferson County Fair, according to Carolyn Piergallini, fair board member.
Day of Prayer to be observed in Weirton
WEIRTON - The Weirton Ministerial Association, in cooperation with the National Day of Prayer Task Force, will host a National Day of Prayer service at noon Thursday in front of the Municipal Building.
This year's theme is "One voice, united in prayer: We pray!"
The event, which will include local clergy offering prayers for the community, state, country and citizens, is open to the public.
