At Monday’s Brooke County school board meeting, local representatives to the West Virginia Legislature presented citations recognizing students, staff and volunteers with Brooke High School for community service projects over the year, including the collection of two large truckloads of food and supplies for residents affected by the Elk River chemical spill. Launched by student Chad Harper, participants included, front, from left, Rob Robinson, facilities supervisor for Brooke County Schools; bus driver John “Flash” Lahita, state Sen. Robert “Rocky” Fitzimmons, D-Wheeling; students Natalie Henwood and Carlie Diserio; state Del . Phil Diserio, D-Brooke; and bus drivers Ernie Fithyan and John Bullock; and back: state Sen. Jack Yost, D-Brooke; Toni Shute, school principal; and James Piccirillo, the school board’s president.
