Children raced in a game of “Red Light, Green Light” at the first Community Gospel Easter Celebration, held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center in Steubenville. The event, organized by resident Aphynna James, was open to children ages 3 to 12 and featured games, crafts, coloring, Bible bags and Easter basket giveaways. James thanked Tina Dougherty, Coach Mark Reiner, Rev. Robert E. Harris of First Baptist Church in Toronto and Program Coordinator Daycha Wade for their help in making the event a success. “These are some of the people who really put a lot into it,” James said. She added that Walgreen’s Pharmacy in Youngstown sponsored the celebration. “We’re trying to just have fun and play with the kids and teach them the real meaning behind Easter,” Wade said. - Shae Dalrymple
