The Summit Art Gallery opened its doors approximately one year ago, helping to highlight the expressive abilities of many of our residents.
Organized through the efforts of the Hancock County Arts Council and the Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau, the gallery has already displayed five exhibits showcasing a variety of paintings, sketches, carvings and photographs, all from local artists.
If you haven't already taken some time in the last year, we encourage residents to take time and check out this true gem of the Tri-State Area. We have a great deal of artistic talent in the Ohio Valley, and now we have an opportunity to truly appreciate it.
From wildlife sketches to scenic photography to abstracts and self portraits, much has been on display at the gallery over the last year, and we are sure it will only continue to grow.
It may even inspire some in our area to pick up a paintbrush, camera or other materials and try their hands at one of the many artistic media. Art is a part of every community's local culture, and we are glad to see it shared.
We thank the Arts Council and the CVB for all of their work in making the gallery possible, and look forward to what they have planned for the future.
